Default MAPP Gas...Where do you store yours...

I use the 1# MAPP gas canisters for my Hothead torch...My husband just came home with 2 cases of canisters...Where in the heck am I going to keep them?...I don't want to put them outside because if they get rusted (it's raining) I won't be able to use them...Any suggestions?...

National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) states you can only store 2 such cannisters inside residence at any time. If garage is attached to house its considered part of residence. If you have an out building like a garden shed or storage unit, I suggest there... Outside storage also needs some ground level ventilation so if cannister does leak ( and some do) it will have place to dissipate...

Yeah.......while I'd normally appreciate what he's done, it is one of those instances where he's being nice, but causing a safety issue in the doing.

If the cannisters have the tight fitting plasticized rubber cap, they should be good for outdoor storage, otherwise, wrap the case very tightly in plastic wrap, then inside a double garbage bag and then sealed. But keep them out of the house and/or garage.

Yes, they have the plastic fittings but they really aren't that tight...They are outside...I put the boxes in a big plastic bag...All is safe...
