Studio is finally up and running
Here is my studio. I worked here for the first time today. It will be so nice not to have to travel 60 km to the studio in the city.
I hope the kiln program I set works out well. Beads by morning....

It looks like you have no ventilation in your work area? Is there ventilation that we don't see?

Hi Mary K;
Yes, there is ventilation right above the work area. It's kind of a sneaky thing as it is around the light. It seems to pull everything out well, and the shape of the work area helps contain it for the fan to pull it out.

Hi Lorraine;
Well that brings me to a question....what is the best way to photograph beads? I have two different cameras, one is supposed to be a good one (10 megapixel), the other, not so good, but I can't seem to get good pictures no matter what I do. Do you have any suggestions for photographic the beads? Background, lighting, etc.?

We have a "room" specifically for pictures - you should be able to find a lot of tips in here:

Best of luck with your new studio, Jane. I hope it's the source of much pleasure and many beautiful beads.

I really like your setup. How did you manage to work out your ventilation through the lighting? How do you store your supplies and glass? Where do you keep your propane?

We found the unit at Canadian Tire. It is a ventilation fan with a light in the middle, perfect for the space because of the place it is in.
The storage of my supplies is still in the works. I took the picture before I got everything out, because now it is all over the place. I am hoping to get some magnet strips, and some shelving to arrange it all.
I don't use propane. I had a natural gas line put in right to the work area, and keep my oxygen concentrator underneath the work surface.
I'm loving being able to work on it all at home.
