Making one Flower Pendants
I'm interested in making flower pendants and have seen the process done bu building up dots or by using a petal puller (specifically Leonaros). Can you share your opinions of each and the pros and cons of each. (Didn't find much when I searched). Thanks so much.

I've used both methods and I much prefer the petal pullers/pushers. Makes the whole process easier I think. I like making the petals beforehand having them ready-to-use when I need them. The only thing with the tools is you need to make sure you use enough glass before pressing. Too little glass and the petals are very thin - unless that's the look you're going for.
Once I started using the tool, I quit doing it the dot method altogether.

Thank you Debbie!! Is there a puller that you recommend for a beginner petal person? And did you purchase the video?

I have both the large and small petal pullers and use the small one ALOT more. I'd go with that one first.
Nope, I did not purchase the video. Can't help you there.
They're fun to use and makes the whole process go faster.

Here ya go. A little of everything.
The roses have the rounded end of the petal showing and the red flower to the right of the roses has the points showing. Hope this helps.

And if you wanted to do them as pendants, you would just attach the petals to a flattened round?
BTW .... those are gorgeous!!!

I've attached them to rounds, donuts, tubes and cubes. Just depends on how you want to use the bead in the end or the look you're going for. I'll take a photo of the bottoms of ones I"ve not used for one reason or another. Hold on a minute. lol !

Here are a few pics.
- The first pic - all three flowers were made on a donut bead.
- The second pic shows the different bottoms I've used. Two flowers on left I used a cube, two flowers on right I used a small tube and the bottom red flower I used a donut.
- The last pic shows the flowers from the top.
Sorry for the crappy pics. I did them in a hurry. lol !
I've also made them off the end of a mandrel.
Oh and thanks for the nice compliment on my bouquet. I appreciate it.

Debbie, can you tell me how you got the nice round indentations on the orange flower petals? Perhaps I'm not pulling correctly - mine are always smooth and not like those, which I like better

Donna, it's from too much glass and/or pressing too hard. If it's too much glass, it will "seep" out from the press. Same thing happens if you press too hard. Both will cause the look you are referring too.
Hope this helps.

Here is a link to a Stephanie Sersich video on Youtube of a workshop she did on her flower pendant and starfish pendant. Don't know if it is what you're looking for, but it is a great watch!

Hope the link works! Jennie
