good Kalypso mojo

Anyone got it?

I'm generally able to get something out of most of the silvered glasses, but Kalypso has me stymied. I've tried whatever I was able to find here, but still no luck. I've tried crossing my fingers, my toes, and my eyes, and still nothing. Full moon, blue moon, mercury in retrograde, and still nothing.
I'm on a mega minor with natural gas.
Anyone have the special touch with Kalypso?

Start as cool as you can is the first thought that comes to my mind.

Silver glass is not going to like being too close to the torch.


Have you watched the youtube videos from Double Helix on the other silver glasses?

I have always treated Kalypso just like Clio. You can use a different base but very light reduction to just give a faint blue haze to give the deep pink/red strike look.

I know that you wrote that you tried everything but have you tried reducing it and then casing with clear? You should get awesome pinks and apricots and maybe blues and lavenders.
DH Zephyr, Reichenbach 1012 and Effetre clears work well. (Not DH Aether..yuck results). The best colors seem to come out when reduced then cased..otherwise pretty blah unless you want to reduce heavily for a metallic look.
If you do a search for Kalypso on this site, you will find lots of photos and awesome glass color combinations that people have come up with such as white, cased with Kalypso, reduced and then cased...same thing with CIM Butter Pecan... same thing with Effetre Opal Yellow ..etc..You will get it..Just keep experimenting!

All are good ideas, and I'll give each one a try.
It's listed as a striking and reducing glass, and for some silly reason I've been focusing my efforts on striking it.
I'll go the reduction route to see how that goes.

I use it as a reduction glass both encased and not, hope you get it!

For striking you want to let it go almost cold letting the glow come out of it.

The videos I have seen show them waiting what seems like an ungodly amount of time be fore flashing in the very end of the flame a half dozen times and then waiting for what seems like too long and flashing it again. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum.


ETA : I talk a good story but I haven't yet tried it myself. Plans seems to get overtaken by life when you aren't looking.

It's not really a striking glass. If anything it strikes from light yellow to amberish. It's magic is in reduction, I just make that bead & let it cool a bit, reduce, encase (or not in some cases). I do not reduce more than once with this or Clio usually.
