Description: The instructor will break down step-by-step one of her well-known beads and focus on students’ own understanding of design. This will be a technique-oriented class where students will learn how to build multilayered floral pendant designs. Beginning to advanced flameworking techniques will be explained and demonstrated, such as ribbed canes, use of a punty, heat control, clear encasement, simple stamen murrini cane and its application, construction of a glass bail, simple implosion flower design, and the ball flower widely used in paperweight construction. Students will combine a variety of techniques to complete a three-dimensional flower pendant. Some flameworking experience is required. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
