Default Glass Mushroom Pendant Tutorial Great for Beginners

Glass Mushroom Pendants are a great thing to learn when you first start out lampworking. They were the first thing we ever tried to make, and we love making them. We always get asked how we get the mushrooms in there, so we wanted a way to show people.

right on, I forgot to mention to be careful when poking the mushroom. It's very easy to have the stringer break and it can poke you in the hand. I forgot to mention that in the captions, I'm debating about editing it in there.

Very nice tutorial! You are evil though - I'm thinking about buying something from you eventually. Your glass rings are beautiful!

Thanks, it's custom built, using Zen Cart. It's been a learning experience.

Lampwork Glass Mushroom Pendant Tutorial
I asked Amir about it and it was thought that it was done in boro. I would like to know if anyone has tried it with the softglass. I really want to give it a go, but thought I would ask everyone here about it.

Thank you.
Cher

Cherri,
You can make small implosions with soft glass. It is a bit harder to keep control of the gather, but it can be done.

Well, I did it.. over and over and over. In the kiln.. Will see what happens. I know they won't be wonderful, but I DID IT! LOL

Thank you everyone for the help. I am going to go out and practice some more, but won't be able to put them in the kiln, so they will have to have trial by blanket. Hmmmm maybe go make some funky stringers (well I do that anyway) and try some twisties. I stink at them and can use the practice.

Again, thank you guys I appreciate it.

OHHHHHHHHHHH almost forgot, got Marys tut and did a couple of practice shots at her mushrooms. hehehehe Happy, happy.

You could make an off mandrel pendant by heating a blog of glass and then shaping it into a teardrop shape. Get a stringer and add a blob of a different color on top like let's just say, white stringer with a blob of dark aqua on top. Just heat the blob so it's nice and round on the stringer. When you're done making the teardrop, heat up the bottom nice and glowing. Then give a few seconds and shove the stringer up the teardrop. The head of the stringer will flare when it gets to the cooler part. Break off the stringer on the bottom and melt. Hopefully this makes sense. I'd show pictures but it's like 1:20 in the morning and I have a show in a few hours Will check back after the weekend.
