Question Ramp-Hold boro cooldown rate

Hello All,

I was finally able to afford to go digital and am wondering when i program my sentry express digital temp controller on a paragon kiln how much time to allow for the glass and temp to cool down. If a chart is available that has a variety of glass thicknesses to explain a drop of maybe 2 degrees per min for 1" boro and stuff. i would like to be able to walk away from the kiln when finished working. if you know of a good place to read up on cool down rates please help me. it would be of an enormous help. i do have an annealing chart that is great but shows little info about letting the glass reach its next target temp.

regards,

robert

For thicker stuff (>.5 inch), I tend to
soak for about 2 hours at 1070,
ramp to 950 (strain point) over 1.5 hours,
soak at 950 for 25 minutes to let it all catch up a bit,
go down to 600 over a 2-3 hours and then shut off.

It's not like I've checked this with polariscopes or something, but it certainly works for me.
