Talking 1 lb or BBQ Tank

Hello
I am new to this about 6 1 lb bottles so far. When the mapp starts to run low the flame is not as hot so i want to switch to a BBQ tank I have a Hot head torch What kind of fule goes in the bbq tank brazing or reg fule. I went to a propane place and they were no help but to tell me they couldnt put brazing fule in a bbq tank. THANKS Kathy

so just plain propane, doesnt the brazzing burn hotter and it is ok to use propane with the hh torch???

Yes propane is a acceptable fuel for the HH....

Actually the temperatures are about the same.... Where the heat develops in the flame is different.... Your "sweet spot" will move when you go from MAPP to propane... Generally it will be a little bit further out in propane flame.


You can get a hose and use BULK MAPP gas or other "brazing/cutting" fuels. They are generally available at welding suppliers.... In most cases you will have to purchase the tank from welding supply, after that you can just "exchange" tank or they will refill it for you....

Its against federal gas codes to put "cutting fuels" into a propane tank....
