Birthstone colors in 104 glass
Hi everyone, I did some searches but didn't find anything. I want to make birthstone sets and have been trying to pick colors to use for each one. This is what I have so far, does anyone have some suggestions or ideas of colors/better choices etc...
I was originally going for all transparent colors, but will take other suggestions as well, some I won't have a choice.
Thanks for any ideas!
I'm using frants color palette picker right now and have these colors:
January garnet (no idea??)
Feb amethyst ( Light Violet Effectre? maybe?)
March aquamarine
April crystal (clear)
May emerald (Emerald Effetre, light or dark not sure)
June light amethyst/ pearl ( Dark Lavender Premium Transparent Effectre)
July ruby ( Red (striking) Transparent Effetre)
Aug peridot ( Pale Emerald Green Effetre?)
Sept sapphire ( Streaky Sapphire Vetrofond, )
Oct rose / opal (no idea??)
Nov topaz (Light Topaz Vetrofond - isn't there an Effetre color like this?)
Dec blue zircon or light sapphire ( Aqua Light Transparent Vetrofond)

I am a garnet here and I found that if I mix amethyst and trans red I get a great garnet color. Hope that helps I can't think of the numbers right now. But it is med. amethyst.
oh and my son collects stones and things and I made him an amethyst by covering opaque white in amythyst trans med.
I would go with the dark for may.
If you go with pearl try the ask glass moroccan swirl works great for that look I think.
July sounds good.
Aug I would use maybe uranium yellow. Not sure on that one.
Sept. sounds good and maybe you could try cobalt pastel encased with clear.
If you work with terra I would use that with clear over top. If you mix the two a bit you get a great opal effect. Here is a pic of that. The ball is mixed.
Yes there is a topaz Hawaco glass has a nice topaz so do a lot of others.
Dec sounds right.
My two cents hope that helps.

I would try the Vetro Intense Blue for September. It's a truer sapphire blue and will not streak in the heat.. How about Nyx reduced and encased for Opal?

I hear the lavendar blue transparent changes colors like Alexanderite does for June but I'm waiting for mine to get in so I can try it. I think the Vetrofond medium grass green for August is perfect for peridot. I like the cobalt blue transparent for sapphire but then again I've seen a LOT of very dark sapphires. I think Bordello is the most perfect garnet color I've seen but I'm not normally willing to pay that much for glass. They also carry a very nice topaz color. Lampwork Bead Supplies carries all these colors at http://www.lbsupplys.net/vetrofond.htm Good luck! Thanks, Angelique

Hothead or Nortel Major/minor on an oxycon. Ex-hole stole the big torches after putting them on the inventory.

Definitely CIM Bordello for garnet! If you want to tilt it towards purple (some garnets are) make a base bead in light amethyst then encase with Bordello. Tilt it towards brown (other garnets I've seen) with a base of light amber.
I made a cool ametrine bead this way, half amethyst base, half amber, all encased with Bordello. It's one of the pix I lost when my drive died. (dammit )

Birthstone Colors
Hi,
My birthstone is Amethyst (February). I often use the Effetre transparent Amethyst (light) as my birthstone color. Lauscha also makes a fantastic purple that looks just like a gorgeous deep Amethyst stone!
