Default Infinite Rim VS Bump

I'm trying to decide which to buy - infinite rim or bump style. Everyone says the infinite rim are the best, but the bump style makes more sense to me as far as eliminating edge marks.

Opinions?

I love the infinite rim, and do not have an issue with marks, the infinite rim
is actually a cone so your marble is not on an edge.

Thanks!! I've actually read that thread and Drew's site, but for some reason I just couldn't get it. I think I was getting confused because I read so much about marbles being shaped on the rim of the mold. Reading through it all again really helped it click!

Does anyone have any videos or pics of an infinite rim in action?

I have the bump mold and wish I had gotten the infinite rim mold, it would be more useful.

That was perfect Will, exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much.

Good to know, Mary. I think it will be the infinite rim after all.

I love my IR molds. I got 1.25" miulti hole last year and just recently upped my collection to 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5. They are fantastic molds and Dan is great to deal with. The most recent ones I bought I purchased directly from Dan, I figured that if the price is the same as I can get from another supplier I'd rather Dan have the extra cash. Best descision ever, after getting a new Beth Champion.

if you have the $ for both, get both. each has their own place in the studio.
if i'm rough shaping a bigass blob of hot glass, the IR mold sucks for that job. the bump style (Mike Close makes really nice bump molds) excels in this catagory.

but when the marble is even 80% round, the IR is the best for final finishing.

Ok, so I will get the IR and see how it goes - possibly get the bump also. I'll research Mike Close's molds. Thanks
