black metallic
can anyone give me any hints or tips to working this. Yesterday I made a bead that had the most beautiful copper, teal, blue, gold matte colors, and for the life of me, I cant do it again......I do think you cant get this really hot to do it, that is about the only thing I think I do know....so you have to do somewhat small beads. course, I could be totally wrong...any help would be greatly appreciated!

In the '60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

If it's Moretti Metallic Black I can't help you. Not only is this stuff frit on a stick, I've actually had three inch pieces pop right off before. I hate it and am restraining myself from throwing it across the room.
And I do think the effects (once you can get the stuff wound on a mandrel rather than all over your bench) tend to be hit and miss.
If you do figure out the secret, do tell!

speaking of Effetre metallic black:
Here's what I do: I find it likes oxygen and I usually use a fairly oxy rich flame. a small, cool flame. wind it on and shape. take it out of the flame, let it cool a tad, like a count to 4 or so, (it should still be shiny black) and then delicately roll it back into the same flame. each time you roll it into the flame brings out different colours. Seems to work fairly consistently for me, as long as the glass is a "good" batch.

You work it like Dark Silver Plum. I think it was Donna (CG Beads) who said, toast it gently, like a marshmallow. That said, I have some of the original I've been hoarding, maybe time to pull it out and start toasting.

I would try to take a pic, but I can promise you you wouldnt even be able to see the colors. I cant take a decent photo of a bead..working on it though, I swear!!!

metallic black
made this with metallic black accents:
http://www.etsy.com/convos/get_convo...mage_type=full
you can't really see the color variations on the doodled, tri-colored hollows,(but it's there) but you can see the cool color shifts on the disks in between. I drizzle (ala John Winters) on the hollows, make sure the stringer is on there, (nothing worse than stringer popping off later) then wave it back in the flame for the metallic to come out. disks are 100% metallic black
I love this stuff, please pm me if you hate it and want to trade for something else.
