Wax? I just use the etching crystals from Arrow Springs and get a beautifully soft feel and look to the etch ... are you sure it's a wax?

I agree, this is the best etching solution I've used. No need for a wax, and wouldn't that make them sort of shiny? Or is that what you want?

If your beads are chalky looking with a whitish film, you can scrub them gently with a toothbrush and a little dish soap.

Thanks guys for the replies.

I believe it gives the beads a sort of in between look from shiny to etched.
I have a HWC boro bead that he's sandblasted then oiled and it feels smoother than an etched bead but still looks etched.
Different process for 104 I realise but I would like to experiment.
Now to figure out if I can get Renaissance wax locally.

Thanks again
Helen

You can get Renaissance Wax at wood working stores if you have one close by.

I've heard of a lanolin cream applied sparingly to the etched beads too.

Oh, I get it! This look is somewhere between matte and glossy. Sounds very nice, and now I have to try it!

I've seen shea butter suggested. I really like the results.

Sandblasting will give a slightly different appearance.

The etching cream won't give the whitish crap the way Etch-all does.

Here is what Teresa does
I've also noticed the beads that I've worn most often has a softer look since the oils from my skin have made it more satin than flat looking

Thanks Aja

Teresa's method sounds interesting.
I have some bees wax so I might give it a go.

Thanks
Helen
