Psyche for stringers
If I am going to use Psyche for stringer application (over OY or Canyon) do I need to encase it in clear first to get the blue/purple colors when I reduce? (Plus any other bits of info on this are greatly appreciated)

If you encase it in clear before reducing, it won't reduce. You can encase the design on the bead after reducing if you want.

Will I get the blue/purples if I don't encase? I've read all the threads and only saw 1 that was not encased.

Uh, I'm not really the person to ask about that! I've used psyche a bit for surface dots and things and it's purply, but I don't know if it's the same look you're after.
Hmm, the surface dots on this are psyche, if that's any use?

Yes, I want the purple/blue colors ... maybe I'm using the wrong base color. Off to try some more at the torch. Thanks for the input!!

You have to encase it after reducing it.

if you want the metallic oil slick, it's best to not encase.

Angie, I have found that not all Psyche seems to be created equal. I have and old batch that was amazing, my newer batches have been more difficult to work.

Yep. I used to be able to easily keep the reduction under encasement; now, not so much. Still great for surface stuff, though.

Not as far as I know. You could email DH and ask them. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as easy to get all the colours

There was a bum batch of Psyche out that won't keep a reduction under encasement and there is a thread about it here. Double Helix is fully aware of the problem and will replace your Psyche, including return postage, because of the classy way they run the business.
