Default Nikon Coolpix S series?

My Nikon Coolpix 2500 (yeah, it's old) is finally deciding to die a dismal death. Eats batteries (tried new ones...twice) and won't always transmit the picture to the card (tried different cards...more than twice), so...

I'm hearing the L series is a bit problematic, anyone have an S series?

Kendyl has a Canon, and Brittney has a Samsung, and neither of these newer cameras takes the same quality pictures as the ancient Nikon.

I've got a coolpix S5 and I really like it. I find it easy to use and I think it takes good pictures. You can see lots of example on my website. Anything specific you want to know?

Nice pictures! Beautiful work!!

I guess I mainly want to know about longevity and ease of use. I get such clear pictures with my old Nikon, so easily, and it's never been a problematic camera. There's another thread in here about the lens failing on the L series and costing more than the entire camera to fix it. I know the L's are an entry level camera, and my camera, when I purchased it, wasn't an entry level, but heck, it lasted six years, and the new ones are failing within the first year or so. I hate that so many things seem to have a disposable factor built into them.

my L12 died just after a year. It took great, easy pictures.

I replaced with a Canon 850 IS. But it's not quite as good.

I bought the CoolPix S4 a couple of years ago, and it has been a great camera...no problems whatsoever..I see on their website that they have a lot more past this one, but it has everything you would need to take pix of beads and jewelry.

My S4 has been very reliable since I bought it a couple years ago. Batteries last a loooong time. But, I haven't really taken many pics of beads. I should learn how to do that one of these days...
