can't afford prescription safety glasses
I'm of an age where my eyesight is only starting to go and the drugstore bulk reading glasses work fine. I can't afford to get new didymium glasses avery time my prescription changes.
can anyone recommend good torching glasses that'll fit over my reading glasses?

You might be better off getting a shield, which sits on the work bench over your torch.
I got mine from Devardi, there are several places you might also get something. I think you will find it's an easier option than trying to manage all that on your glasses.

I did DYI - took a pair of my old drugstore reading glasses and removed ear pieces so they fit inside the didymium. Worked just fine and could just as easily change out for stronger regular reading glasses.

For soft glass or clear boro you can get away with didymium in whatever form. For boro with any color or fume, you'll need additional UV/IR protection. Usually that comes as welder's shades (like #3 & #5) and in mirror coatings (like with Phillips lenses).
I work all boro and use Phillips Boro TruView Shade 3 with gold mirror finish fitovers. They aren't cheap but not expensive either, about $250.

my devardi shades fit over my regular glasses, but i dont need them to see up close so i dont do it.
but they work.
its not great wearing 2 pairs of glasses, but if you cant afford it you cant afford it.
same thing i have to do if my friends want to go see a 3D movie in the theatre (yuck)

I use a Shield with a large square shaped book magnifier taped to it, the shield has a swing arm and I just adjust the distance and height depending on how my eyes are doing that day. Some days are better than others especially with allergies that can really curb my eyesight.

I bought clip on readers that flip up/down from Amazon. They are lightweight and very handy.
