1/4...3/16... 5/32 ?
Sooooo much info in this thread, remarkable!
I don't see... or can't figure out, which is more like it, the tubing measurements if you use 1/4 inch mandrels.
At RioGrande I see this: Sterling Seamless Tubing, Item Number- 10090714 as I can't locate the 100905 as previously recommended in this thread.
Dimensions .250" OD x .016" wall
Inside dimension .218" (5.5mm)
Wall thickness .016" (.41mm)
But .218 (ID) is converted to 7/32... so seems this would work with 5/32 inch mandrels. Please tell me if this is correct. If so, it seems these measurements above would work for silver tubing and Pandora beads.
So, if 5/32 is smallest mandrel
and 3/16 is middle
and 1/4 is biggest.... (why isn't everyone just using this mandrel?)
why is my brain scrambling all of this??? I wanted to order from RioGrande as they provide great customer service (and I have an account there). However, I'm going to screw up this order if I don't have help. I've read this thread numerous times and written down numbers; I remain blonde.
LE is here for help, which is why I am posting this... (for my brain), I don't need any insults such as "read thru the tutorials yourself"... I've already done that for two days... its 2pm, I'm still in pajamas, need to get on with my day and order this tubing before the guys with the white jackets come take me away for having hopeless Tubing Confusion Disorder.

I feel your pain. Try this link to Rio Grande:
http://www.riogrande.com/MemberArea/...setName=100905
I use 5/32 mandrel
tubing is .188ID .156 inside measurement
fits Pandora, etc.
Hope this helps
Kris

Okey dokey, that does help! But here's my problem: I don't know what the heck all the drop down selection info means. See pic below.

I agree, all those IDs and ODs get scrambled in my brain, and my eyes start to roll up in my head...

To add to the confusion: wall thickness more than 0,3 mm (= 0.012inch) makes it very hard to work with the coring press.

Goodness, that's my first O Poo of the day...probably not my last, though! LOL. If you have tubing questons or need supplies I recommend:

She did me a solid, today!! You cannot beat her customer service or professionalism!

I had high hopes for Indian jewelry Supply. I contacted them re: tubing. They responded that all their tubing is hard. So really, try Ginko Designs!!

I bought tubing about six months back from Ginko and it is working beautifully. I finally had time to core some beads with the tubing I bought in a bulk buy from her.
Ran out and just ordered more from her. Her tubing works, so why not support an LE person and at the same time get a product that you know will work!!!! It's a no brainer....LOL....

Actually I've cored tons of beads with this Rio tubing and it isn't any more difficult to use than Ginko's tubing. It's such a small tube that hardness isn't an issue. On the other hand, if you were using the 1/4 or 1/2" tubing I would recommend annealing that before trying to flare it.

slightly different question . . . .diameter and width of pandora beads
I've got the right coring but when I make these beads, they are so honking big!!! Can someone share with us what the right diameter is of the bead itself? and how wide from cap to cap? I've got to have a calipers to measure mine because they're coming out way too big--good for practice, but not for selling.
