Default San Diego, CA Classes and Studio Time

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster.

One of the great hidden gems of San Diego is the UC San Diego Crafts Center. Ok, I’m biased since I’ve been going there for the past few years. I wanted to let everyone in the SoCal region know of the upcoming classes. Classes are held on various dates between July and September.

http://crafts.ucsd.edu/
Click the ‘Classes and Workshops’ tab and select the ‘Flameworking’ menu item.

For Summer Quarter we have the following lampwork classes.

Beginning Glass Bead Making
Beginning/Intermediate Borosilicate (Pyrex) Flamework
Intro to Borosilicate (Pyrex) Flamework
Lampwork Glass Studio Membership 1
Lampwork Glass Studio Membership 2

There are other classes as well, glass blowing, ceramics, jewelry, etc. Lots of great teachers and topics!

In full disclosure, I am a staff member at UCSD, but not for the Crafts Center. However, I am the TA for the Saturday lampwork studio….and I would really like for it to happen again this quarter.

Thanks everyone!

: bump :

We still have spaces available in the Saturday studio. This studio starts July 16th and goes until August 20th.

Thanks!

I have participated in the program in the past, and it was a great group. Who are the instructors now? it has been a long time since I was there.

Pam - hey there! I remember you from the couple of classes at Beadmakers of North County. Small world, eh? Anyhew - the UCSD craft center has Teresa teaching the beginners class, John is doing both boro classes, Joyce usually does a fusing class (tough this isn't the case for Summer), Ann is the TA for Thursday studio, and I'm the TA for Saturday, if it goes.

For the Sat studio, we have one person, besides me, signed up...I would need about 2 maybe 3 more people to make it happen. If anyone is interested, its from 10-3. We're a pretty friendly group.

It is a small world! I do miss the old studio days. I got a lot more glass socialization than I do now.

That is a great line up of folks to work with. The community down there is full of amazing people. If a couple folks jump in on the Sat class it would make for a nice intimate setting.

Sadly, since not enough people signed up by the deadline, the Sat studio was cancelled. sniff. BUT, fear not - I'm going to push for it to be offered in Fall Quarter. Hopefully, we'll get a better response rate this time around
