Recommendations for photo organizing software?
I've been using Picasa. But I don't like the recent upgrade where it IDs people and I don't like that it's going to be integrated with their new social networking.
Anyone have any alternatives to Picasa?

Are you looking for something online or on your computer?
I like Flickr for online, and Bridge for on your computer.

Have always used Picasa off line thus there are no images on a Google server.

I was thinking specifically about on my home computer. But I've been using Picasa's online, so I probably need both. I'll look into Bridge. Thanks!

The people ID feature is on the recently upgraded Picasa on my desktop. I rarely put photos online but occasionally I've used their online service. I had to use my rarely used gmail address to access the online. The gmail was only for my local neighborhood when we were fighting a developer. But Picasa kept throwing those names up for the photo ID. I don't want Picasa tagging my photos or making suggestions about how I should tag my photos. I want a simple photo program where I manually put in the tags I want.
But definitely the straw that broke this camel's back is that Google is now integrating Picasa with it's Google+ social networking. I keep Facebook quarantined on my old laptop because I don't like it mucking around in my computer. I think it's time to limit Google's access to my machine.

An excellent reason to not update to the latest and greatest.....
Or try for version 3.8
To turn it off:
1. In Picasa, click Tools > Options (PC) or Picasa > Preferences (Mac).
2. Click the Name Tags tab.
3. Toggle the 'Enable face detection' checkbox.
4. Click OK.
