I just bought a pound of "curdled ivory" from FlameDame...one rod in the bundle was marked with a tag as "Curdled Ivory" . All the rods are smooth and have a small white dot on the cut ends and they seem to have darkish stripes running lengthwise on the outside
so is this the real stuff?

I have some that also has the white half moon shape close to the edge of the rod, it isn't a consistent color on the outside either but isn't rough on the outside at all (just a tiny bit) and it is completely opaque looking at the end.
Then there's other ivory that is also bumpy and rough and also not completely opaque as the curdled. But it doesn't have the grainy rough outside or the white half moon shape.
O no and this is what i just now found out, this complicates things more
In Frantz's bundle there are 2 different kinds of ivory. I could easily pick the rougher/grainy rods out of it and then i looked at the ends. They're totally different. The rougher rods are the curdled, i can also see a bit of sparkle and they are a bit darker on the ends and have some transparent on the ends and the other ones are........ never mind, they are the same as the 1st one i described which is ivory i bought overhere in The Netherlands
So to be sure look at the ends and you can see some sparkle and there's some DARKER transparent in it. On the outside the rods are really rough/bumpy, i could seperate them easily from the other ones.

DPete1104 If the ivory is as written above, yes it is.
All of my ivory has the difference in color on the outside.

well even if it's not, it's still nice glass..dark ivory is my favorite 104 glass. But it WOULD be nice if it was the curdled stuff it was sold to me as...we'll see....

Denise, it is. Paula had a nice stash of it and she's as honest as the day is long. My rods look exactly like that.

Hoping this will help the searchers - mine is out as of this morning.
I should have kept more for myself (I generally sell to the end, but I love this glass)

I'm not saying she's dishonest...goodness PLEASE don't go putting words like that in my mouth. I'm simply saying that what ppl are describing as "curdled ivory"...ie rough textured rods with sparkles and darker transparent spots visible on the cut ends isn't what I have. And on the advice of another person who DOES have the glass, I went to the studio and used a rod...no sparkles when I melted it either as I was told to expect if it was the curdled batch. It's still a beautiful dark ivory and I can and will certainly use it...I'm just reporting what *I* have and what it does....
I bought 1.5 pounds of Bill's glass too....*grin*

I got an order from Generations this month - great service, well packed. And of course I ordered dark ivory.
Compared with what I received from Frantz, the batch from Generations is paler, skinnier, and not as variegated or rough-textured. No "telltale" white crescent on the end, either. You may want to check and see where they purchase from and when they received it...
ETA: It's still dark ivory, and I will still love it and hug it and take it to a desert island with me should I have a chance to grab glass and a torch on the way... I just don't think it's the Curdled Ivory.

I've bought my fair share so now I can give up my source.
JameyLynn at Howaco Glass. She's got quite a bit left. But maybe not after you all see this post!

I just checked with JameyLynn and she does not have the curdled ivory anymore, at least not as of last night.
