Default Is there a way to make purple

My friend wants a bead with purple on black, like a really PURPLE purple. Is there any way stack colors to get it? Maybe some combo of a transparent on opaque?(104) TIA

Wow, that's nice but I can't do $93 for 1/4lb!
I'll have to dig out my Devardi transparent amethyst, that's the most purpley purple I have

^^That. Put the minimum amount in your cart, then go look at the cart. That will show you your actual $$ Their site can be confusing if you aren't used to them. But the R104 prices have gone up a lot in the last couple of years, and anything purple is at a premium. BUT - the cane is out of stock right now.

May I suggest you visit my website and visit the pages on my frit testing charts. You'll find a black column on each page where you can see how each of the frits will look on black glass. That way you can see if it's opaque enough, or purple enough for your needs.
http://www.listen-up.org/Beads/Frit/frit.htm

I also have some color mixing charts, but I don't think I have any that are "purple" enough for your needs. You can check though. There is one mix though that's rubino over periwinkle, but that's it for color layering.

http://www.listen-up.org/Beads/Mixing/Mixing%202.htm

None of the enamel colors are the shade you want.

Sorry, I seem to be full of things that won't work.

You may be able to mix up one of the Reichenback transparent with a white and get the color you're wanting.

When I want purple I just use EDP.

You're wanting to put a transparent over black? I don't think that will show up very well.

agree with above, you will need an opaque base or opaque purple that can show up over black. I would recommend EDP, although it can be a little tricky to work with, nothing else like it! Otherwise, periwinkle or white perhaps with a purple layered over it, you could experiment then also. Have fun

you could pull stringers of purple one side and white or very light purple opaque and lay the stringer on a black bead might work to show the color

I find with a lot of stringers that the edges get fuzzy where there is less opaque. But if it were raised that would be excellent. Curious how this turns out. Report back to us

Default How to Make a deep purple

Hi, Shanna

A base of Periwinkle encased with Pink Lady make a yummy deep purple. I’m not sure how it would look over black, but it might be worth a try. Good luck!

Here’s a picture of the colour I got using Pink Lady over Periwinkle.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the help! I made a test bead with the Devardi amethyst (which behaved perfectly politely for once) over white on black and he said it was perfect!
