Default Historical Glass

Hey all,

SO, I'm new here, and new to glass. But I will be focusing primarily on medieval (and earlier) type beads.

Does anyone here focus on historical glass work?

Check with Tom Holland. He does a lot of work on the Chinese 'Warring States' beads and other historical bead types.

There are a LOT of SCA members on this forum. Just start asking around. I am a member, but I don't focus only on historical glass.

In the last The flow : a glass journal ... (Summer 2010), you can find so a article Beads Through the ages : historical bead Re-creations and Timeline by Suzanne Tate
In fact it is more 2 pages of illustrations, I find it very interesting.

May be useful a book by Lois Sherr Dubin,
The History of Beads: From 100,000 B.C. to the Present, Revised and expanded edition

Robert_ I'll look him up, thanks.

Brimmy- Ok, I'm an SCA member as well. And while my intention will be to focus on period styles, there are some really cool things that I'll have to try as well.

Maroli- I've already put that book on my wish list, lol.

Is there someone I can order the issue of The Flow?

Hi Elisanda. Just saw this in a random web search on historical glass. I am Suzanne tate, and you can find my documentation and the full current timeline of beads on my webpage at www.solarflare reactions.com.au. . Click the link to SCA in the menu.
