Always wanted to know what it means to be a production jeweler?
In this three-day intensive mini-course you'll get a good taste of what it's
like to make your living as a jewelry designer and business owner. Four
teams of metalsmithing participants ( up to 4 participants per team)
will be chosen and challenged to design, prototype, and then produce,
in multiples, the target jewelry item. The teams will be announced and
the target product revealed at the conclusion of the Thursday evening
introduction meeting and Pricing Marketing lectures. The teams will have
2 1/2 days to design and produce and then present their finished collection
to a panel of professional designers and marketing experts who will choose
the winning team and product line but will also critique the work of each
team individually. The entire event will be filmed towards the production
of a documentary. Thomas Mann brings his 36 years of experience as an
artist, designer and business manager to bear in this very first course in
a series that he currently designing and testing. Tom will serve as a consultant
to each of the teams throughout the design and fabrication process.

Requirements and qualifications for students enrolling in this workshop:
Knowledge of basic metalsmithing techniques: Sawing, filing, soldering,
and finishing. Completed student application, a brief summary of your
metalsmithing, designing, and business experience.
(business or marketing experience is NOT a requirement)
