Default Gases from Sterling Silver?

Hi,
I've been thinking about adding a silver core to some of my beads. From reading online tutorials, it looks like you need to heat up the sterling silver tubing with a butane torch until it is glowing red. Does anyone know if this gives off any dangerous gases? If so, would a lampwork studio be a safe environment to do this? Are there any other safety concerns I haven't thought of? Just thought I'd check before I started ordering supplies...

Thanks a lot!
Heather
