Default New Camera.......Now what?

My hubby bought me a new camera for my birthday (yay!) It is a Sony DSC-HX1, It does full HD and a million other things. I really want to know how to use this equipment to it's full capabilities, especially when it comes to macro shots of beads. Where do I begin? It is an amazing camera, I just need to learn how to use it!

Just like making beads it will take PPP. Review the manual for the functions of interest and then use those and practice until you become familiar with those aspects.

If interested in micro photography start with outdoor flowers. Then try a few beads in available light. And try some indoor lighting to expand your skills.

As you said "It is an amazing camera, I just need to learn how to use it!" And the only way that is going to happen is to take a lot of images and try different things....

Look for an online users group for your camera so that you can ask questions from those that have actually used the DSC-HX1.

I would start by studying the manual cover to cover. Use a highlighter to mark all of the things you would use often and need to know right away. Good Luck and have fun.

I second the manual thing. I still refer to mine a lot.

Read manual and PLAY WITH IT till you understand most of the features you will probably use.....

Digital film is cheap..... Do not hesitate....
