I think that last piece is exquisite! Even if it's not how you intended for it to look.
Earlier you mentioned using a medium green that was too pale in a shard. How much glass would it take to try different colors out? I have some dark colors, could send you a little bit. Most of my rods are about 5 mm and I think 12 inches long. Feel free to send me a PM.

That's my favorite one yet! you really knocked it out of the park. Good job. I know you like the other stuff but you have a great style going yourself.

I haven't tried any Double Helix. That must have a lot of silver in it!
I am using silver salts which seem to fume faster than metallic silver. I wrap it up in some kiln blanket material and hold it to the flame in a pair of forceps. I think it's just a glass temperature issue as I'm not sure how hot it wants to be for the silver to "stick". Any thoughts on a glass glow color for good fuming?
I'll PM about the colors. Thanks
KJohn...thank you so much! I have started to come around to the same conclusion. I am actually glad to find something more "my own". I did an experiment today without encasing with clear and I think it will enhance the designs...pics soon!

Roberta, I was thinking about dense colors in powders to apply beneath and on top of white shards to achieve the look of Noel Laue in those earlier photos. It would take a lot of cane to make enough powder to use on a piece. I really appreciate the offer though!

Ah ha moment...
Here we go. I just wanted to see what Ivory and some reactive canes would do if I did not encase the colors in clear. Sometimes I have to beat my head on the wall for a while before something actually gets through. LOL
So much different. The fuming worked nicely on the ivory and I can add cane this way pretty easily...great way to test a lot of colors. Just got to get use to adding the color late in the process.
The other benefit is the ability to reduce the surface with all those silver colors.

I like that! Yeah you are on a roll! And I would use frit & enamels with shards for some cool effects as well.

Thanks to Eileen for sending some DH colors to sample. I laid them out with some SIS, various twisty cane and other colors and did a pick up on ivory powder. So many reactions!
I tried to label things and keep track but not everything got picked up like I'd hoped. I can tell what some things are but get lost trying to figure exactly what is what. LOL
I'll try again soon especially with some of the more interesting ones. Too fun!

I wish we could all get together and watch you in action! I'm glad they're fun to try.

Very cool!! Do you know what glass you used to make the trails? That in itself is very lovely.

Thank you guys soooo much!
The trails are a glass I make in the pot so it's all ready to use. Nothing better than 10 lbs of molten color! It's a cobalt blue with a bunch of silver in it. I've also made a turquoise (copper) blue with silver that nicely compliments the ivory.

Nice crackling on that ivory too. Do they stand upright on their own?

Thanks! The silver fuming is finally sorted out...last one I made actually got too much which is a better problem to have.
Yes, all my vases stand on their own! LOL When they don't want to stand I have all the diamond grinding and cutting tools needed to make them submit.
I hold them for photos to try and get a better angle. I love the background off my deck but the light is usually terrible.

Whoa! Gonna have to dry off my keyboard -- drooling to dang much.
Organics will forever be my favorites to make; watching the glass move and react
Excellent experiments; nice to see techniques flowing back and forth between lampwork and blowing
