Default working soft glass *hot* & eye protection

I work soft glass with a Phantom. When reheating 2" marble, the surface can get pretty hot before the heat works down to the core - I'd imagine the temperature goes well into the boro-working range, but couldn't say for sure. Do the people telling me what kind of eye protection to buy take this into consideration?

Soft glass normally require only ACE 202 of didymiun for reducing orange flair around hot glass....

But you say you have it really HOT..... I would suggest trying at lease a #3 welding shade (clip-on's?) and see if that reduces the intensity of light (radiation) off the marble....

#3 welding shade is usually most basic for boro work with up to shade #5 being very common for really intense radiation when working HOT boro...

I sometimes use a light green shades similar to those uses when cutting or welding with oxygen/acetylene torch.... You might try something in light shades from welding supply...

You can get a pair of #3 welding clip-ons pretty inexpensively.

Thanks, everyone. I use a didy shield, so I'll just replace my safety goggles with shaded ones.
