WYSWYG Purple....
Got a request for a dark purple "ribbons" encased in hearts....
They are for pancreatic cancer thing... Who's color is a medium to dark purple. https://encrypted.google.com/search?...w=1017&bih=579
I've got NS periwinkle but it's far to light I think...are there any darker wyswyg purples you could recommend?

The only one I can think of is Glasstronics purple. Glasscraft is the only place I've seen it but it's out of stock. I've only used it for surface work and sculptural and it turns royal blue/purple if you work it fast. I can't say at all what it does encased.

If you want to try it shoot me a PM and I'll send you a couple rods.

Borostix has this purple, but I remember it being pretty hard to work - color burned out real quick. Maybe it would work better encased?

NS Hyacinth looks like the closest.
NS Periwinkle looks good too.
NS Skyline might be a little light.
NS Midnight might be too dark.

Glasstronix is ok but it boils easily, same for Purple Urple.
borostix purple can wash out if you're not careful, but if you work it like a cadmium, it holds up better. Just be sure that it's properly molten before you move it or you get stretch marks. This is an example of how it looks worked:

Wisteria's one of my favorites for purples lately, but you just have to go gentle with it.
If you want to encase one of the other purples, consider using the transparent lavender to go over it.

I get a beautiful purple color with the glasstronics purple or
the wisteria coated with a thin, thin coating of turbo cobalt and then pulled out
to whatever diameter y ou need. This is one of my favorite colors for
petals on flower compressions. You can vary the amount of cobalt coating to get
lighter or darker shades. With the cobalt layer you also avoid the boiling tendancy of
the purple glasses.

purples
glasstronics purple, tends to go medium bluish but can still give a purple effect:
borosticks spring purple, goes a little lighter than stick when encased, but my fave so far:
dovetail
