vessels and then what?
hi everybody,
I am looking for vessel experts😊
I love blowing glass and so I also started doing vessels, like many others. what I see from them is that they mostly do vessels that are lying around, that cannot stand. so question number one- do you have suggestions where to put a vessel that has no flat bottom? did you invent any clever solutions so that the vessel can stand upright?
next question- did you solve the problem of hanging them somewhere? there is a very nice tut how to wire wrap a vessel but then you have a vessel with two wire loops at the rim, one of them is connected to a little chain that is connected to the topper. and then? how would I hang this round my neck? putting a piece of leather string through those loops does look awkward.
I'm looking forward to your answers...
kind regards!😃🌺

You can make your own glass loops to hang a vessel from a cord. Either one loop like a pitcher, or 2 loops like handles.
I made this a very long time ago. If I was to hang it, I'd probably loop a cord through the one side without the jump ring so it would hang off center.
For vessels you'd want to stand upright that don't have a flat bottom, there are little acrylic disks made for displaying marbles. Perhaps they'd work on some of them but they aren't very deep. Or you could make some stands to be more part of the whole, with wire (or glass).

A lot of the same styles used to display marbles also work for sculpture and other shapes.
Adding a little e6000 to the edge helps them stay up right.
The hole can also be tapered with a reamer or dremel.
Wearing them from a delicate chain or bead wire using looped eye pins works fairly well.
Though a little monofilament can work when hung from a Christmas tree or curtain rod.

thank you. well, the handles are very beautiful but hanging the vessel like that means it hangs 'on the weakest point'. worn as a necklace it won't survive long...
putting the leather cord through both looped eye pins means that the cord has to run under the rim from loop to loop. this I have to try, if it really looks good😊

Even without loops you can use fabric or leather cord and make some fancy knots around the bottle, or even stitch leather directly on (although that tends to cover up a fair bit of the bottle, useful if you don't like how it looks I suppose )

Beautiful vessel Rebecca!
Tink Martin made lovely vessels. Here's a gallery from her website. She has used cords for many of these.

Thanks Patty and Nannie.
Yep, Patty, Tink (I miss her here) hung vessels from loops as well as...oh gosh. What's her name...can't think of it. Something Fowle? Anyway, personal preference I guess.
