Baby firefly lovely beads I bet those earrings in person are beautiful.

Stonefemme great job with the hearts w/metal frit my fav is the forth bead I bet that would look awesome on a sterling silver chain.

Jenn I don't have a rod warmer either I use a plate warmer. I don't know why a George foreman grill wouldn't work especially if you leave it on low. Glass might have a charcoal scent to it...lol "just picking"

Hi Paula,
You asked Jenn, but I will say that yes your grill will make a big difference, but it won't heat as hot as the Rod Warmer (it gets up around 900 degrees), so be patient when you first introduce the rods to the flame.

I think a Rod Warmer is a must with Devardi glass. So definately try your grill! What do you think Jenn?

...and here's my latest pair of 'local yokels'... but I fried the first guys nose working on his mustache, so try try again!

Houkje, you're rocking the hearts girlfriend !! Great reactions, what kind of a torch do you have?

Jenn, I've been using my George Foreman grill and it works fine. biggest problem I had is the stupid thing kept spitting the rods out due to the design, I got a little strip of wood, elevated it, and that solved the problem. I'm real creative when it comes to tools, dig around the thrift stores....I'm using some kind of kitchen utensil as a bead presser right now. I should post a picture of it and see if anyone can tell me what it's REALLY used for.... Cost me 50 cents !! And I love it. I've found all sorts of cool things, you just have to make sure the utensil is stamped stainless steel. Those faux boro earrings are a blast to make, just wish I could've gotten better pictures, there's alot goin on inside that crystal Oh, also, when the weather gets warmer, I don't even preheat, I stick my rods right in the flame and go...I've never had problems in warm weather conditions..

Hey Kristina, the "yokels" need some wire rimmed glasses.....lol ...throwin down a new challenge for ya.!!

you mean I'm not the first to think of this!?!? What is it with us glassies using everything we can!

Hoping to try it tomorrow. Glass time was foiled tonight by a baseball game, science project and bath time. Love being a mom, but wish I could clone myself, lol!

Here's my attempt to improve at encasing... I used the Adventurine Goldstone rod wrapped in clear and pulled into a stringer to swirl over the core, and then encased it.

Lots of bubbles, but hopefully I'll get better!

That's not burned; it's acne scars!

They're wonderful!

Is the glass here yet?!

Received my new curling iron/rod warmer in the mail today, so is it HERE YET? All unpacked? Guess I'll go visit the site, and see all the goodies, and all the fancies(frit and etc. ) Deciding all that I want to order.

Kristina, I think your local yocals are cute, but I think those of us who make the beads, are the real BEAD HEADS.

I keep checking my calendar to see if the 24th is here yet. I was gifted about 20 rods of Devardi, so that's all I have and I want more! I'm going through it quickly!

That cracks me up! We certainly are the Bead Heads - or Bead Brains! That would be a great name for our unique circle of friends here - the Bead Brains!

Ok everybody, deep beathing is called for and lots of it. Here's the deal, the shipment got hung up on a random "inspection" they do this with containers, through US customs and if you think it's bad for us, imagine How badly Natasha and Daniel feel about getting their date switched, switched, and switched again... because they know we are all anxious and going nuts....This shipment is HUGE... Although I want it to hurry up and get released also, I like the idea that inspections on containers coming into this country are indeed being done. Somehow that makes me feel a little bit safer anyway. Even though the waiting is excruciating !!!

i'm not mad just a wee bit disappointed. However, this is hardly their fault, and all we can do is patiently wait for it to arrive.

I hate when written things get lost in translation...I didn't mean to imply anyone was mad but looking at what I wrote......I meant well, it just didn't come out the right way. I just meant we're all excited, and disappointed and all we can do is be patient, and no, it isn't their fault. If customs wants to inspect a container they do, the delay is like a bad car crash....and a headache for the business waiting for it.....

Wish we lived near them, we could all go pitch in and help them unload, sort and get it posted!

I have redone my order about 12 times. Anyone else doing that?

no worries firefly, i just thought that maybe my last post was a wee bit short and might have been misconstrued lol.

And Kristina I have a list. I refuse to go and look any more because my list keeps getting longer and I have a set budget for this buy lol

I can't imagine what it would be like to unpack a large shipment, I think it would be amazing! I was working on what I am going to order last night. Quite frankly I want a pound of everything!

I would love to try the shorty holder and the presses. Guess it will depend on how much glass that I can not live without!

Yes, I want the holder too, so I'm really glad they have the half price one!

I'm split between glass and tools too! And I want some of their big ring mandrels... how do you decide?!

Imagine getting a huge glass shipment, with lots of great new colors and fun sparkly rods.... having to cut it up, sort it, label it, pack it up and mail it......and not be able to melt so much as 1 stick of it cause you haven't got one spare minute of free time....and you won't, for the next 5 weeks or so.... BUMMER ! Oh, I'd be having my own personal meltdown if it was me

I'm really excited to see what we come up with when we start playing with all this new stuff....thanks to everybody for posting and sharing..this is a great thread.

I want a rod holder as well and lots of glass.

I would be out of my mind being around all that glass and not being able to melt any of it......
