yay, first post ...
here's a couple of little things I've been doing lately. usually I make things a fair bit larger. My girl and I are both glassmakers and scuba dive buddies, so we get a lot of inspiration from the sea. it's because of these critters (ones I made many years ago) that we met in the first place and I've been making them on and off for many years now. They're nudibranchs, sea slugs, fun fun. I've been working on a large piece lately, and I've been making a few of these single ones as pendants because they're fun. the large piece I'm making isn't finished, yet, but there's images on www.glassartists.org/nudibranchartglass and one on our site at www.nudibranchartglass.com ... I've made the ones on the large piece as close to the natural colouration and patterning as possible ... the ones I'm posting here were for an order where the lady wanted quite specific colour combinations. these are between 5.5cm and 6cm long.
enjoy,
Chris

Nice work... I had the same idea... But I haven't done anything with it... Sea slugs are one of natures hidden gems. Great Job!

Welcome Chris! There was a thread in the family room (I think) a while back on sea slugs (real ones) and they were so beautiful! You have certainly captured them very well!! I look forward to seeing you around

First Boro Beads
Hey Guys!
This is my first post in the Boro room. I just started working with boro a few weeks ago and thought I'd post my first pictures. I keep lurking in here for inspiration and one day my beads will pop just like yours! Thanks for the inspiration!

Here is another marble made with the Dichroic from Trevs Glass. This Dichroic was called Feather Duster, and is actually a brighter green than is shown in my picture. Does anybody have any tips for photographing Dichro?

I tried a tube implosion last night after re-reading the cedar rose tutorial. It turned out ok, but I learned a few things in the process.
1. Don't use a silver color in the first row or two of dots since it will tend to fume up the inside of the tube as you are imploding leaving you with a line in the center of lens. I think this could e a cool effect if that is what you are trying for, but I wasn't.
2. Watch your heat control when condensing the lens so that you aren't left with a bubble in the lens.
3. Implode it further than you think you need to so you don't end up with your dots on the face of the pendant.
4. Make sure the inside of the tube is really clean before you start.
5. Make sure that you lable your rods since amazon night, alaska night, and dark cobalt all look the same when you are grabbing one to make your backing.

Just work it hotter than you think you should and cool it quick when you are done shaping it. That's it. My bright striking color secret is out.

Wow, that is cool! Is it a sculpture or does it open up somehow? Regardless it is very cool. I knew a girl like that once..she bristled at everything I said.

Well here are my first boro beads from the back to the front. It's going to take alot of PPP, I can tell. I want more color and lighter beads. It's terrible, it's all I think of.

Great showcase! You guys keep me plodding along....sooner or later it will click.
Trudi - fantastic bracelet...the beads and your PMC work...
Renee - kudos for posting your first beads. They look pretty darned good to me. I haven't been quite so courageous to come out of the closet yet...and I also want mine lighter and more vibrant! We'll get there, I'm sure!
Thanks everyone for the inspiration!

Wickedglass that is way cool - truly wicked! I love it - must be AWESOME in person...
Renee - your beads look real pretty to me - and hey - welcome to the addiction...
Well, Spring must be in the air - I am ignoring the minus 25 temperatures - I mean dagnabbit - it's gotta warm up soon, right??! Wishful thinking...going back to basics...(and playing with my pics while my regs defrost... )
