Cranberry Pink Cracking?
I got some Dk Cranberry Pink and it is lovely! It totally reminds me of Rubino without the headache of striking or accidently turning it ugly colors.
I made two tests beads with it to see how it looked. First I made a watermelon slice, turned out not to shabby, I did a layer of pastel white underneath and a medium encasing of cranberry.
Second bead I also did a white core, but the casing of cranberry was even thinner than my first bead.
They came out of the kiln just fine and looked great, I was so excited for this new pretty color. Then a few days later I noticed they had cracks! I checked the other beads I did that day, nope, just the cranberry pinks!
Whats the deal here? Am I doomed to just have to stare at this glass and not use it? I didn't really want it to make solid beads from, it cost to much for one, and I wanted a pretty trans. pink to go over white.

Maybe switch up your white? Try a different color company

I've been using it as dots and as a base under dichro with no problem. I haven't tried encasing it over white. I will try that and let you know what happens.

I was thinking it would be CiM. Do they have the dark cranberry again? It was out of stock for the longest time when I went to order.

I haven't had problems with Cim Cranberry, although it can scorch like Rubino.

Try it over clear or Moretti Rose Quartz Transparent. I've not had any crackage using it that way.

It concerned me after seeing this thread so I did a few experments. I only bought one rod of cim cranberry because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Like Erose, I did not have any problems with it. In this picture I used kulgar clear on the one with silver leaf, as you can see it loves silver."Yay." I encased useing Moretti transparents on the rainbow one and Moretti clear on the other. Both have 104 white enamel powders on them and all three beads have set for over a week with no cracking. So far so good.

My tax man already yelled at me for buying so much glass but I might have to try using CIM white and CIM clear to make some of the watermelon beads that look so much better with this cranberry color than with rubino IMO.
I have some really pretty cracked up CIM cranberry watermelon beads with flowers on them.
The ones I made with rubino are in my etsy shop right now. At least I don't have to worry about them cracking! I took all my CIM beads out of my shop for fear of the dreaded cracking.
Oh well.
