Here's a good pic of the blue grass green - it's a very pretty color.

I'd love to see pics of the Blue Green and the Jade Green, if anyone has any.

Here's Blue Grass Green:

and Ivory over R-108:

Did I mention that for some reason I ordered both Lt. Beiges? I have no idea what I was thinking. I'll play with them today... who knows, maybe they're wonderful. They look pretty... beige.

Well, OCR is out of Blue Grass naturally, but I did snag some of the other colors in frit and cane. This is a new experience for me, ordering frit by the kilo - lol! I'd be happy to do do some trading once I see what I wind up with.

The blue-green opaque is the Z87 that I showed earlier in the thread....I really like it! Here's a pair of spacers...

Oh THAT'S the Blue Green! the one that looks like Agua Azul. I love it!

I made a pair of beads with the beige today... it's basically a simple, easy-working non-reactive ivory. At first I was kind of kicking myself for ordering so much, but then I realized... I go through craptons of this color in the summer! It's good for bridal beads and lighter floral blends.

I made a couple more sets, one in Z-96 Light Gray:

One in Z-88 Dark Olive Brown (WTF is up with their naming?)

Both are on some kind of Lauscha white that's been rolled in R-108 powder.

Also I put some Z-792 Blue Olive on a violet base and swirled it around a while:

And thus concludes this week's installment of Help, I Spent Too Much On Frit.

You and me both! After reading this thread and your other thread, I ordered a boatload of Zimmerman and Loetz frit.

And now I need more Light Tobacco.

Do the Zimmermann frits react especially with this color? (because I have a boatload of Light Tobacco that I bought at some point and don't know why).
I tried the Z-99 on Light Tobacco last week but didn't get anything remarkable out of the test bead.

Not necessarily the Zimmerman frits, but some of the silver colors like R-108, Multicolor Dark, and Gaffer Chalcedony react with particularly beautiful colors when layered over or mixed with Light Tobacco.

Judith - I'd love to trade for some of your Light Tobacco, if you can spare some. I have some Zimmerman colors coming in the mail including some solids and some blends. I know I am getting some Blue Violet, Seashell Pink, Z 111 mix and Z 129 mix and a couple of others.

The beads I made with the Light Tobacco powder and Chalcedony frit were less exciting coming out of the kiln, still interesting though and I have another batch cooling, this one with Blue Chalcedony frit.

Pictures still to come.

Kalera or anyone?, Have you tried the Z-821 Olive Brown?
Does their Z-19 Dense Black web like 104 intense black?
What do you know about Z 662 metallic Cobalt Blue?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Ok, I seem to have merged the ask anything thread with the Z-chat thread,LOL.

I haven't tried the Z-821; I'm curious about that as well.

I think Olympic is out of the Z-662. I really really REALLY wish they would update their website! I am trying to stay away from it right now... I need to MAKE money, not SPEND money! Even on supplies.

I made some beads with the Z662 metallic cobalt blue on the weekend....it's very, very intense.

Here's a pair of spacers, with a large clear core and only small dots of the cobalt around the poles....it bleeds together very well.

Here's a lentil that also has a clear core, but encased in cobalt...it looks almost black.

I also blew a 2 1/2" ornament using the cobalt over a clear coilpot, and even blown quite thin it's so dark it's opaque even when backlit.

Wow, interesting! It sounds like it would go a long, long way pulled into stringer, even layered over white.

It's actually listed under opaques...

http://www.glasscolor.com/products/d...ID=27&pID=1741

I'm going to try it over white and see what happens.
I did try to get a "metallic" sheen by reducing it (although it doesn't say it's a reduction glass)...going to pull some stringers and use them as scrollwork and see.

My problem exactly, it is really difficult to order anything from them, when you finally decide that ok, these are the colors I can get, all I have money for, and then you place your order, and half of what you ordered is not available at all, and the rest of the colors are only available in #2 or #3 instead of what you ordered... so. So I have couple colors coming my way, but didnt get the pea green, or the metallic blue... if anyone would have those colors, I would love to see if what I have coming would be a good match for a little trade.

The best way to order from OCR is to call ... unless you are close enough to go in person ...

I'm pretty sure I can send you some Pea Green and Metallic Blue Pia. I'll check and get it out to you this week.

This has been a great thread to follow, it made me go back and begin testing some of the frits I got awhile ago in a more systematic manner. Several of these have already been shown in the thread but since I had the olive brown pictured I figured I would post this pict I made for myself. The olive brown is a yellowish brown imo, and I really like the dk gray too. The blue grass green is one of my favorites although it doesn't look like anything special here, I wish I had been able to get some powder form - not sure I want to make my own lol. I really like that blue olive over the violet Kalera, great combo.

Yep, I won't know what it is exactly that I am getting until tomorrow because
I ordered over a period of several days. I should know tomorrow afternoon though, and I will want to trade for colors I couldn't get as well.

LOVE it, Tina! Thank you for posting your results!

Patty, I used it over a vintage German violet which is very very similar to Effetre Violet... a color that is very underappreciated IMO. It's a wonderful reactive base for frit or dot designs.

Kalera,

Is that Effetre Violet 591272 or the New Violet 591273 you are speaking of?

I assume it's not the new one... it's whatever Effetre Violet they've been selling for decades, more or less unchanged, and super cheap.
