batch annealling
My new kiln will be here on Tuesday so I'll be able to anneal the beads I've made up untill now. It comes with a kiln shelf, to do batch annealing to I need to coat the shelf with kiln wash? And if so, what kind do I get?
Thanks,
Heather

Heather, When I was batch annealling I put all the beads in a pyrex bowl. My thought on this is that if the beads are going to melt it will be in the bowl. Your milage may vary.
I have also read of people using a terracotta pot (without a hole). People putting their beads on mandrels (no release) not touching and suspending them between racks.
Congrats on your kiln! Tuesday is going to be a very exciting day for you, I hope it arrives early!

I batch anneal my moretti beads, and do not coat my kiln shelf. I only ramp up to 960 degrees, so they don't slump or stick to the shelf *S* I just make sure that no beads are touching each other, and I haven't had any problems. *S*
Congrats on the new kiln!

I'm not sure what kind of kiln you have but with mine (a front loading Paragon), I just put in a couple six inch floor tiles on the bottom and place the beads on those. No problems so far. The tiles do not go edge to edge.
