Default System 96 stringers

Can system 96 stringers be used to embellish Moretti? What about the noodles? TIA Pam

A guarded yes, on the surface and not more that 20% of the bead mass (some would say less, but I go by the OCR rule and it has worked out fine for me).

If by System 96 you mean Uroboros then no. Unlike most ~96 COE glass, System 96, in general, is not furnace glass and does not have the metals in them that make other ~96 glass "stretchy" and tolerant of differences in COE.

Good to know, thanks Elizabeth. I'll prolly just buy some Uroboros rods. BTW how do you like your didymium eye shield?

Well poop, now I'll have to either find someone to take these stringers off my hands or as stated in previous post buy some Uroboros rods. Would they be compatable with BE glass I wonder?

nope - BE doesn't have the metals either. They ARE compatible with most ~96 COE frits though.

You will love the Uroboros rods, it is great glass.

I like the shield a lot but it's not actually mine, I was doing a demo at a friend's studio. I use Ace clip-ons and have a blast shield in my studio.

Sorry if I misadvised you about using System 96 on 104. I have used small amounts of Uroboros stringer and frit on 104. I used faux boro stringer made with Uroboros Straw and Kugler Iris Gold on 104 and even encased it with no problems, but the Iris Gold has metals that may have made the difference.
