Plum Silver?
I have a rod of Effetre "Plum Silver" and I want to know what it is, I've tried both reducing and oxidizing it to see if was Silver Plum, but to no avail. Please help, I want to know if I can do the matte silver reaction with it, or if I should get other glass. I don't have any pictures right now (in the kiln), but I hopefully can get some soon.

Silver plum likes an oxidizing flame for it to produce a silver-ish matte or shiny surface.
At least, that's what works for me. I like the dark silver plum better than the light silver plum.

Plum silver, silver plum... I don't see why it wouldn't be the same glass LOL but there is a light version and a dark one. So that will make a difference in your reduction.
Try a stringer, leave it raised and see what kind of effects you get.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get to my studio next.

I get nice results from Dark Super Plum but nothing from Light Silver Plum.

Plum Silver Light
Light Plum Silver gives me a light silverish matted look. This glass does not work well with a reduction flame or by keeping it in the flame too long. Timing is everything with this glass. Luckily, if you mess up and keep it in the flame too long (it can get a pitted look), it can be returned to its "dormant" stage by reheating it to a glowing stage to remove the pits.
