I didn't know there was "Boro mandrels" I use the same mandrels for soft and hard glass.

I'm not sure there is a mandrel specifically for boro? I use the regular stainless steel mandrels that are used for soft glass. You just have to be careful that you don't burn through the mandrel with the extra heat that's required for boro. Bead release is a different story, foster fire's boro formula seems to work pretty good. But lately I have been using blue sludge from Arrowsprings and I seem to like it a little better. Maybe some of the others will be along to give their input.

I get all my mandrels from AuraLens....they are the "almost indescructable" 3/32nd. I am very hard on mandrels....a real hack and these do last me a little longer then any others. Just an opinion.

I was about to recommend these as well. Like the others said - there really
are no "boro" mandrels - but I've burnt though my share of the regular ones.
The ones that Mike sells are great - much stronger than any other ones I've
used. Here's a link: http://www.auralens.net/bs_mandrels.cfm

If yeh got a welding store near yeh, yeh can ask for tig sticks or welding rods just get stainless and make sure there bare with no coating. the ones with a coating would work also just kinda annoying getting it off
They work great and most likely cheaper.
thats what I did anyways
