Favorite Eyewear Anyone?
I'm a new member to the group and need to upgrade my eyewear. I'm working in Hot Glass and Lampworking and need to protect my eyes from colored Boro. Does anyone have a preference over a certain style and or shade that you can wear doing both kinds of glass.
Thanks,

I am not sure what you mean by Hot Glass. Is it furnace work? For Boro lampworking, I use a pair of prescription AGW-250 in shade 5. These work very well for me. I also have a pair of prescription AUR-92's that I wear if I am doing soft glass or watching demos. Both of these I got from AuraLens http://www.auralens.net
There is a lot of information on the different options available at http://www.auralens.net/m2_glassworker.cfm
Cheers,

For soft glass I LOVE my AUR 92s. For boro I'm saving up for a pair of split lenses. Sorry I don't have a link for them.

I have a 2 sets one from Aura Lens and one from http://www.phillips-safety.com/Glass...rame/Index.htm
I ordered the large ones from Aura Lens and they are really Large, and kept falling off my face (those are now delegated to other people who visit and can hold them on their face). Due to the order I placed at Aura Lens being very late. I ordered another pair from Phillips. I went with the Downtown Designer Black Frame Glass-Working Safety Glasses Lens Option: Phillips 202 (ACE) GB-P2-DTBL, and I LOVE them.

I just bought split lenses from Auralens.
They took good care of me.
Bottom 2/3 is shade 5 so I can look through the top and
see colors if I need to. LOVE them!
I got them in Biker frames which were bloody expensive
BUT MUCH cheaper than co-pay for cataract surgery .

Thank you for the Aura Lens link. I'm apprenticing in a hot shop, so yes, furnace work. I've been playing with Moretti, and want to try some colored Boro. I'm at the point where I need to buy my second pair of glasses, and I'd like to protect my eyes while having a lighter weight frame on my face.
Thank you for all of your responses. Glasses are expensive, but vision is priceless.

One option if you're concerned about frame size and weight is to buy your own frames and send them in to Auralens. They'll make lenses to fit your frames.
