Talking Maine/NE Area- 'Hallowe'en Glass Jam' - Oct 31-Nov 1, 2015

'Hallowe'en Glass Jam'

Oct 31-Nov 1, 2015 ---- Playing with Fire! - Rockland, Maine

From 9am 'til we drop on Saturday night, then we do it again on Sunday. Come for just one day, or both days. $40/day on Sat & Sun = torch time, friends, food, networking, sharing of new techniques/products, door prizes, and whatever else you can think of!

We have eleven torch stations and a variety of torches. Torching, sharing, networking... Bring techniques, questions, show and tell... Bring your latest book/magazine, new glass... to share... request a demo, do a demo... if we're 11+ we take turns at the torch throughout the day/night... we do, we learn, we watch, we visit, we have a great time! It's always a friendly mix of veterans and newbies. Any level of glass working experience welcome... and a good time with all!

Bring your flameworking glasses, and any glass or tools that you'll want to work with. We have studio tools that you're welcome to use. Bring your own torch if you wish (if you have quick-connects; if not, give us a call, and we can probably accommodate). Bring questions and techniques to share.
~~ And if you'd like: bring something/anything to add to the door-prize pile.

POT LUCK, both days! ...please, and thank you! We'll make some sort of soup or chili Bring your favorite dishes to share! We'll provide coffee, teas, water (we have a water cooler, please bring your refillable water bottle, thank you!) We have a gas grill on the deck, and a kitchen with range and microwave for cooking and reheating. Get the ball rolling, and post your RSVPs (and your pot luck contribution plans) here in this thread!

Please RSVP here in this thread… or hotglass@midcoast.com or 207-594-7805
*RSVPs most appreciated, but if you find that you can make it at the last minute, please do.*

Accommodations: The Old Granite Inn , just a few doors down the street, offers a year-round 'Playing with Fire! rate' to our students/guests----group/s share/s with the larger suite/s is possible. (room-shares may be coordinated here in this thread, or by PM too.) See listings for additional accommodations at http://www.therealmaine.com

I'm bringing a chicken alfredo with peas and gluten free MACARONI for this weekend. It's got a ton of both calories and taste! lol

I know, I'm supposed to have noodles but my noodles stick together but my macaroni doesn't so you're all getting macaroni. "Pasta is pasta" is what I'm going to say!

Counting down the days!!!!

FYI:
There will also be metalworking (foldforming, soldering, etc) going on at this Glass Jam. We'll have the soldering station, pickle pot, and the metals bench available. So, BYOMetal and personal tools if you have something that you'd like to work on.

Kristi- it doesn't matter what you bring cuz you always bring delicious!!!

Metals... yum. I wear my spinner ring every day but it's not loosening up much. I'm working on it! It does help the stress to turn the rings around on it.

HEY! "I" gave it away???? I resemble that remark.... I don't think so.

I'll see if I can make a fabric rod carrier or two before Friday for door prizes. They're becoming a Glass Jam Tradition! lol BUT a VOLUNTEER ONLY TRADITION. Folks do NOT have to contribute. It started just as a fun thing and it's grown.

Can't wait for Saturday. YAHOO!!!!

Kristi, looking forward to seeing you, metal and all!

As Sue said, the Door Prize pile has become a fun tradition, but definitely a volunteer one, and, hopefully, no one should ever feel obligated to contribute.

And don't forget, FOG bar is having a Hallowe'en party from 9pm on... if you'd like dress up for that, or just stroll up the street, and lurk a bit. Lurking sounds appropriate for the holiday, as well

WUHOO! I got them done tonight. I have 2 Fabric Rod Carriers for 104 glass for the Door Prize Drawings. And I tucked 6 rods of glass inside each one.

Can NOT wait for Saturday!

Anyone wanna play RIGHT, CENTER, LEFT? Bring some glass rods to gamble with if you do. Maybe there will be time on Saturday night???? 3 rods per game are needed. Pam-this would be a GREAT place for some of your "special" glass.

See everyone Saturday.

Sue

See, there you go trying to give my glass away again. I have some original door prizes as usual. Still not sure what I am cooking.

heeeheeeheee.... hoo? mee?

And, Pam, you're another one whom it doesn't matter what you cook as it's always delicious.

Why isn't it Friday night right now???

Did anyone else lose their power in last nights rainstorm. Last night? It's still going on. Think I lost mine for better than 4 hours and lucky me will still make it to work on time, although without a shower or breakfast! I'll pick something up on the way to work.
