Default OCean beads

Not sure what they are technically called but they look water or waves... with sand and they have a twist in the middle, Sorry if my discription isn't very good.

I haven't tried one of these yet but it looks like a transparent lentil with wraps of ivory on the ends. You can then add some SIS on top of the ivory and melt it in. Take a thick stringer, transparent so it will look like a wave, heat up a spot and make a twist where the two colors meet. Like I said I have no idea if this is what you are wanting but I am just giving you a suggestion based on what I think you want. LOL Hopefully someone will chime in who has actually made one. Good luck.

Like this? It's similar to how Bindy said to do it. The main thing is to get the twist where you want it, between the sky and the ocean.

I do mine with a base of Ivory, wrap in silver foil and quickly encase with a transparent color then reheat. Once the bead is back up to temp, spot heat the edges between the transparent and the ivory, then twist with a stringer of the transparent color...

Here's an old set I did using this technique:

Great beads everyone. Carolyn, I love your ocean. I'd like to use it on regular beads. If you say it is a 90 or 96 COE, do tell what other colors you use with it in other applications. (Pretty please.) This might be just the push I need to order some other glass. (Shhh don't tell my husband or boxer girl. )

OCEAN BEADS HOW TO

1. To start you will need the following glass and stringers (all 104 COE) - Nyx, (could possibly substitutute other silver glass), pale emerald green transparent, pale aqua transparent, medium aqua, Kronos 2 stringers, silvered Gaia stringers and thick silvered ivory stringer.

2. Make a barrel of Nyx and reduce, then encase in a pale transparent. This gives a lovely mother of pearl centre to your bead

3. Add some stringers of Kronos, twist into waves with more stringer, reduce and encase in layers of other transparents. You can interchange any transparent blues or greens for these beads, just be careful of adding too much dark glass, or the inner layers don't show well.

4. When the bead is close to the size you need for the press, add some of the silvered Gaia striger and twist into waves.

5. Add a couple of wraps of thick silvered ivory stringer at one end. I use my brass stump shaper to push the SIS close to the mandrel. Use a SIS or a silvered Gaia stringer to twist the glass into waves.

6. Press and fire polish, then reduce for a final time to get the lovely colours from the silvered Gaia

And voila.....!
