Default Propane regulator Question.

Can you use a oxygen regulator for propane? The tag said it was for propane but the label is green. It also said on the regulator its a compressed gas regulator. Here is a photo of it. I'm confused??????It also said oxygen on regulator.Max. inlet 3000 PSIG. It's a medalist model #250-80-540

Oxy regulator doesn't physically fit propane tanks because the thread goes the opposite direction. Oxy is clockwise and propane is counterclockwise.

If it says "Oxygen" and its green its probably for oxygen ... Tag is PROBABLY WRONG...

Other consideration is tank connector, it has to be a CGA-510 specification for propane.

By the picture it is not. it is a CGA-540 which is oxygen.

The key here is the model number ending in "540" would indicate oxygen.

As Emiko says propane hose connector threads will be left-hand.. IF it does NOT have small groove is the "flats" where you would apply a wrench its not for propane.

Also if "tank" gauge goes up to 2500psi ( or maybe 3000psi) its oxygen.... IF it were propane it would only up to 250 to maybe 500 psi...
