question on making drawer pulls
I'm making hollow or blown glass boro drawer pulls. Would I just glue in a threaded 1/4 - 20 metal insert for threading to screw it to cabinet or drawer?

I think the standard screw size is 8-32 and I don't even pretend to know what that means. You could glue in an insert...not sure how on a hollow though. I buy these - http://www.bigceramicstore.com/threa...set-of-10.html
Or you could use these little guys to glue your work on-

This doesn't really answer your question, but why are you making hollow drawer pulls. I can't be the only one who's a klutz in the kitchen. I'd have one of them shattered about the second time I turned to put flat ware in the drawer.

I've made drawer pulls but not hollow ones. I make them right onto the 8-32 stainless steel screws. I like the 2" ones best. They give me enough room to work with and the knobs then can be used for thicker drawers

Thanks for all the replies . I think I was making them hollow because I was making some functional glass art and using tubing. I wasn't sure if the different cooling rate of glass and metal of the screws would cause them to crack even when properly annealed in kiln. Funny that you mentioned bumping a hollow one and shattering it on the floor as one fell onto the concrete garage floor the morning I took them out of the kiln , but it literally bounced like 5 times and didn't break. I will definitely try the 8-32 stainless steel screws and make them from solid boro glass. Thanks for the link to the inserts page too
I would assume Mina that you use all thread or are you using screws with bead release on the threads of a screw that has a head?

I make them right on the steinless steel screw, no release. I always worry about the epoxy coming undone.

I think making boro knobs directly on stainless steel is likely to fail. Years ago I bought a package of inserts and threaded rods from a glass place and it specifically said to not put boro directly on them. ymmv
