I have the same problem with my oxy con. I was told to turn the concentrator on for 15 minutes with the oxygen valve open before I turn on the propane. Then close the oxygen valve, turn on the propane, and light the torch as normal.
Apparently, my problem was back-pressure from "warming up" the oxy con with all the valves closed. The guy also said the reading may drop lower than my normal setting, and it's okay. He said to set mine to 4 without the hose connected and not to worry if it appears to drop a little. Does that make sense? I have a minor and propane, so my settings may be different.
I was going to ask on here tonight... is that a normal operating procedure? He said it was safe because the O2 output isn't high enough to be dangerous. That true?
