Amber, so nice of you to post this tut! I'd seen these beads in your etsy store a while ago and wondered how you do it. Can't wait to try it out!

Amber, I'm using a commercially pulled stringer. Have both the dark ivory and the light ivory.

Wetting the stringer with, uh, water - yeah, water - never spit. Rolling 1/3 of a sheet of silver leaf (not foil) onto it. Burnishing and then a light roll in the flame.

Still not getting those wonderful silver bits that yours have. Am I working it too hot maybe?

Barbara, yeah, turn down the flame and then maybe melt the sis ever so slightly before applying the lauscha stringer...then melt it all in. That might help.

What, we aren't supposed to run our tongue over the stringer 1st?

That comes close to my question -- are you rolling the stringer in the leaf cold? Do you wet it first? I tried heating just a smidge and it worked out ok, but in reading the dragon scales tut I thought I probably couldn't do a lot this way.

Thanks again for posting this. I love those beads. I messed around today with several colors, and screwed up enough that maybe something interesting will come out of it!

ETA: Never mind, found the answer on making the stringer in the other thread. Thanks!

Yes, I'm rolling the stringer cold then flashing it through the flame before using. Is this a no-no?

I did it this way so that I could get a whole (well, almost) stringer full of silver before proceeding. Then I wouldn't have to stop after every bead and resilver.

L a z y...................

Many, many thanks, Amber. You've got style, woman, and I love it!

Thanks Amber for sharing this. I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow but I don't have any Lausha so we'll see what various other 104's will do.

Would anyone care to share what other colors are working for them? I, too, do not have either of the Lauscha colors.

Thanks!

Same here....but I will try again. My denim and olives came out too dark. Maybe my stringer was too thick.

I'm in with the epic fail club. lol ! No matter what I did it did not work. Even working slow, which I am really just learning to do after all these years, didn't work. Next time........ I hope.

Thank you so much for revealing this wonderful technique of yours! I have long admired these beads - they are truly beautiful as are all of your amazing organics.

I don't have any of those Lauscha colors left, at least I don't think I do, so I will have fun experimenting with some other colors that will hopefully work well.

I sense another trend in lampwork just like with your fabulous Fire Opal technique
