armadillo beads
I have seen beads that are fashioned after the over lap on an armadillo shell and wondering about the technique and seeing examples.
Thanks

Anyone care to translate it???? I think I have the jist of it from the drawings but I'm confused about what is going on between pic 3 and pic 4.

I think the dots are just being melted in a bit before adding a transparent color.

I'm guessing "zeet" is "make", and "kraal" is "bead"...other than that, the babble translation, while useable, sorta', pretty much sucks.
Step One:
Zeet a basis kraal of transparency. If you do not want a transparent colour, molar then too dark. Try as much as possible make form of a disk.
------------------
Step Two:
Zet hierop gelijkmatige dots in twee of meerdere kleuren.
On this even dots in two or several colours put. According to the size of your basis kraal can be 6 to 8 or dots still more.
-------------------
Step Three:
You can put the dots flat beside each other or you leave a bit ertussen open.
------------------
Step Four:
Smelt de dots bijna helemaal in.
The dots melt almost entirely.
------------------
Step Five:
On this transparent put which covers all dots well concerning the middle of the basis kraal lay.
------------------
Step Six:
Joint to they sides of low transparency extra transparency but do not let touch these layers the basis kraal.
------------------
Step Seven:
Melt the transparent layers in and care that the dots will fall.
------------------
Step Eight:
Turn the mandrel and remain to twist to the dots nicely tile sgewijs each other gone to fall.

I've found that Google Translator works a little better than Babel Fish.

I'm from the netherlands... my english is not that great but i hope this will help you...
Step 1:
Make a transparant basebead. Dont take a very dark color (otherwise you dont see the effect) Try to make a disk shape.
Step 2:
Place some dots, in two or more colors, evenly placed on the disk. According to the size of your base bead there can be 6 to 8 dots.
Step 3:
You can place the dots right next to eachother or leave an open space.
Step 4:
Melt the dots in almost entirely.
Step 5:
Put a transparant layer over the dots, make sure you cover al the dots.
Step 6:
Ad some transparent to the sides of the first transparant wrap but don't touch the base bead! (see picture)
Step 7:
slowly melt in the transparent and let the dots drop a little.
Step 8:
Turn your mandrel and keep turning so the dots will drop over eachother.
Know you have a featherbead.
I hope it makes sense hihi.

Haha , I made that tutorial a few years ago. Fun to see it back on this forum.
I hope it helps you with this technique.

My dots are not overlapping. The dots become crescent shaped and are right next to one another. Grrr! =/
