thank you. if you guys would email gaffer and ask for zimmerman mountain blue i would really appreciate it. i emailed them but enoug people ask for it they might try to ask for it they might try to copy it like the did with z99. i just love both of those colors. i hate that zimmerman is going out of business and they wont sell the formula to anyone else. mB is like the blue version of z99 and i only have a little left of z99 and MB. I do have some z99 left in rods and frit. and some of the glass blowing rods that i learned to make chips and pull it to cane. granted it isnt as good as reular cane. i mean to sell the z99 of rods tho. thanks for your replies. I appreciate it very much.

Did this for the first time in about 4 years!
Ok it blew up a little bit.
I forgot how HUGE they get Quickly!
Did get some useable 12 inch pulls, 3 to be exact.
Now for a cup of coffee and then beads with them!

How awesome to see this old thread revived! Page one still shows the step by step.

Rachel, you don't still have any photos of your bead do you? From Dee's reaction, I'd love to see it!

My first and second attempts to make feather murrini. On my first try I didn't get enough dark glass on the tip or enough white/trans brown layers. On my second attempt I kept the layers flatter (was able to increase the number of layers), narrower, and sides neater and I also made the dark portion larger. I love using these murrini. I'll probably make it part of my on hand supply of murrini.
The only thing Im not sure about is the quill part of the feather. Im not sure if Im supposed to keep dragging the murrini to form the quill, or stop at the edge of the murrini and then apply just the encased stringer to form the quill.
In keeping with the eagle theme, I also tried my hand at an eagle bead.

Oh My. Your Murrini on second one are terrific, but the base bead on the first is great!!! Your eagle takes me back to the early eighties sit-comes. He looks like he's saying "What yew Tawkin 'bout, Willis??" in this picture. Lovely work!

You may have inspired me to try making some of my own when the weather warms up. Right now it's -15 and there's no way I'm going to get the shop warm enough to play. LOL

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to try it. Not the best, because by the end it was getting very heavy and unmanageable.

I love seeing these again! I will need to try some too. Myla, those look great. You should have some cool results with that. Post them in the Show & Tell if you want

we just have one now, every month for Show & Tell Newbies & Intermediates. That's so interesting! I'm glad I saw this thread.
