Don't freeze to death and flame anneal your items if you can. I have had no luck with the vermiculite. personally I think it's garbage but I'm sure other people can shed more lite on it than I can.

I wear kevlar fingerless gloves. They work great for heat or cold and are inexpensive. http://www.constructiongear.com/fing...r-memphis.html

The work lamps are a great idea. Serves two purposes! And I can attest to how hot those suckers get!

I forgot about the gloves, I don't go without mine when it gets chilly. Leg warmers too! I think I'm going to knit some of those instead of socks, much more useful! And a muffler, and a hat....

I ordered some of those annealing bubbles. If they can hold up in the cold, I'm good to go!

I keep the vermiculite in a crock pot to give it extra heat. I stick my shocky rods in there, too.

I am currently on a hot head running on bulk propane. I used 104 and I also work outside, open on two sides and covered by the balcony above me. I use a fibre blanket for cooling. I have worked in temperatures as low as 5 Celsius (which was not fun for me, and slow going for the glass). I find as low as 7 degrees is very do-able, but of course the warmer it gets from there the better.

Thorne, you are the epitome of perseverance!

This reminds me to report back on the annealing bubbles, I've been very happy with the results. They work great and are holding up well.
