Default Murini question

first did I spell it right?
and

I haven't been making beads but I have been cruising ebay...it seems I do keep finding very interesting german beadmakers...I found one that has a murini that looks to me like it was made on a mandrel.

If I had to guess I think it was a bead made on a mandrel and later sliced...there seems to be a center hole in the murini. That actually is a cool idea....has anyone heard about this or know about it...do you know what I am talking about...lol....(like anyone could ever figure out what I am talking about!)

so a murini with a hole in the middle...Of course would not be too small...

seems like an interesting idea

Pictures would help

And, are you sure it's a hole, and not clear glass in the center?

That's either clear glass or a dot the same color as the base bead.

murrini is spelled MANY ways. And it has not hit the dictionary yet.
murrine,murrina (singular), mirrini...
different cultures spelled it different.
I have a history of beads book; Murrini was commonly used as beads hundreds of years ago. The murrini was cut 3/8" or 1/4" thick and drilled from the side.

I do see some people slicing beads. Make a long bead, then slice it up, and have many.
This is one of my favorite subjects. I posted some good links at my post at watchme create (team blog) last January. Check out these posts! I think the 3rd one is on murrini, or murrine, or whatever however you spell it.

I used to google murrini last year, and find nothing. Now, it is everywhere on line. Times are changing, and repeating itself

enjoy!
