Default Watlow 935A temp. control not working

Hi, I have a kiln that does not work with the external Watlow 935A temp. controller plugged in. The kiln DOES work without the controller. What can I add to externally control the kiln? The kiln plugs into the controller with a reg. 3 prong plug. Then, the controller plugs into the outlet. Thanks. Lynn in NH.

How comfortable/experienced are you working with mains voltage AC? If you're experienced in the area, it shouldn't be hard or expensive to rebuild the controller.

If you're not comfortable working with mains voltage AC, something like this would work well: http://www.auberins.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=467

If you get it with the SYL-2352P controller option you get programmable ramp/soak capability, so you can automate your full annealing cycle. (I'm really fond of the 2352P, have built several kiln controllers based on it).

It depends on what needs repair.

With controllers its often the relay, thermocouple, or small part like a capacitor or resistor.

Relay and thermocoupler are easy to replace sply swaping parts.

The capacitor and resistors take a little more time to remove and skill to solder in the replacement.
