You did a great job on your first ones by the way. Sorry I was so excited, they look like fun!

I have to say, Natasha and company have such good customer service. Send an email with a question, get a response within a couple of hours. Just really good customer service.

No, I've never had any Devardi before. I would also like to try the Diamond Dichro, but it was sold out when I was at the shop. What I called Mix and Match are actually Factory Lots on the site... oops.

The glass looks fabulous, and the price is right! If I like what this glass does, I'll be buying a lot more.

Beautiful work Paula!

And Bethany, I know what you mean - I struggled at first and then found if I used my Marver to mash each separate color flat and then melted it in, it kept the triangle shape better!

Becky - be SURE to thoroughly preheat your rods and you won't have any shatter issues. I use the Warmer they sell and all their rods work like a charm. Before I got it I struggled with some colors.

Sonja, you can "edit" and then delete extra posts if you like.

I am SO ready to place an order!

Here's my latest Thimble, and I decided to put a yellow bird on it as well... I love the wacky things I guess!

Here's something Baby Firefly put me up too... another great way to use mixed colors - Ruffled Beads for spacers!

Here's a link with instructions on making them. Thanks Holly! They are neat and fun to make!
http://www.beadworx.com/HowToMakeARuffleBead.html

I have also been playing with making flowers - as something to attach to my thimbles... this glass is so sturdy in the flame you can do just about anything sculptural with it!

Default Rod Holders

Hey everyone, I wanted to say that they put up a new rod holder on the Devardi site. It is half the price of the ones you buy that look almost the same!

This one is about $12 and lets you use up the rod ends. Here's a picture I downloaded. I'm getting one! Think of the glass and time it saves!

Hi Mary, sorry, I haven't been on the thread for a couple of days, been in the shop beadmaking and dreaming up new things for Kritstina to do....lol. Anyway, the bead in question is D130 Lilic or lavender can't remember which, but the color no for sure is D130 anyway, the center is clear. I used Blue Grass frit, (val cox) and melted flat some of it, then went down to the bottom of the jar, for some really fine granuals and spread them on and barely melted them in...then of course there's silver ivory stringer melted in...

Kritstina, great job on the flowers and the ruffles....now I'm going to have to come up with something else to keep you busy...you master everything too fast my dear....lol

Jenn, awesome stringer work, your beads are beautiful and welcome on board, we're a crazy and fun group on this thread and if you are new to using the glass, you'll find lots of supportive and funny people who are all here to help you !!!!

Blong, I've gotta ask....Is that dog for real....? He's awesome !!! and I 'd loved to see some of your "crashed spaceship triangles"...lol.

Beautiful work you guys !!!!!!

Thanks guys, this glass came out while I was on hiatus and I was lucky enough to have some sent to me recently. I can't wait to work with it some more and really see what it can do!

Has anyone discovered any reactions yet?

Devardi has a neat new video clip on it's pure silver frit at:
http://www.youtube.com/mailbuggy#p/u

and it has an entire page dedicated to Specialty Glass at:

http://www.devardiglass.com/specialtyglass.htm

I love the Metallic Black. It silvers up nicely - even for us amateurs on Hotheads! Happy Day!

Default Sculpture in Glass!

...and I forgot to post my latest silliness! They are the "local yokels"... and they live around the corner here!

This glass is just fabulous for sculptural work! These are the first two I made, and I can't wait to pull different sizes of stringers to sculpt more faces with! They were incredibly fun to make!

Imagine the possibilities - clowns, dolls, babies!

Love your local yocals. I've created a couple human heads using a clear base encased in Ivory, but I would have to agree that the Davardi line would be a much better glass for sculpting with. BTW:
Fine Folly....... might you have a name? It's always nice to refer to a person by ones name other than their shop name!!

base of trans sunset red, butterscotch, med brown frit, sis stringer 50 x 30mm

bluish pruple center with army green frit, sis and intense black ends 55 x 30mm

dk brown, med brown, burgandy, army green, sis 43 x 43 mm

faux boro beads believe it or not the base glass on these is citrine...if you work with propane and a mag torch as I do....this is what I get sometimes, and when I get it...lol, I hurry up and grab my iris gold stringers and make these boro look beads. They are encased in clear. The pictures do not do the beads justice....they are a rainbow of colors and absolutely beautiful.

Great job on the faces Kristina! Holly, those earrings look like they must shimmer in the light! Houkje, I love the lavender heart with the silver frit.

Ok question. I don't have a rod warmer and would rather spend money on more glass than another tool. However on the drive home this afternoon it struck me that I have a George Foreman grill that we don't use anymore and was actually thinking of tossing. Do you think it could work as a rod warmer?
