I know - I'm waiting for it (D123 Frog Green) to come back in stock. It's my favorite green for leaves and vines, and I'm down to one skinny rod! This is the second time they didn't get it in. I sure hope they can one day carry every glass color!
HEY does anyone out there have this color that they aren't wanting to use? I know I would like to buy it!

that's about where I am too. I hope it's available soon. Maybe I'll write Natasha a note after things settle down to tell her how much we want it. If she hears from a lot of people, maybe she'll be able to show them that it's important to send it.

I already gave up my Frog Green to Marcy, so I'm no help now.

If it isn't in on the next shipment maybe we can post a request to buy in the Garage Sale area. It's such a good color and texture to work with!

I am waiting for the frog green and the medium brown to come back. I know she said there were going to be new colors this time but I don't recall seeing anything new other than the boro colors. Although they did get the transparent denim blue back in which is a lovely color.

Yes, Lisa did, and I am so grateful. That sure helped.
I haven't tried denim yet. and had my light trans. purple out last night and playing with it. It melted nicely with my minor, but the color is not very dense. I was making cased stringer with it. Anyone use it? Any beads to show with it?

Not sure if this is the same one you used, because I've got it labeled TR X-Lt. Purple and I don't see either name on the Devardi inventory at the moment...

It's the TR X-Lt. Purple over a white core.

Hey Everyone,
I emailed Devardi and asked about the limited colors, and Natasha responded said the shipment was split in half and they expect the second half in about 3-4 weeks. She also said "There are 94 more colors still coming" including 123 Frog Green, so that's great news!
Here's another Bear with balloons this time... the Teddy is Opaque Medium Brown, with Lapis Blue and Lemon Yellow balloons.

OMG how did I miss that the boro is here? I have tried and tried to use the soft glass and I have decided that I am just a boro girl. So now I am off to order a bunch of boro and let you all know how it works out. Should we start a new thread for boro and keep this one just for soft glass? Or . . . ?

For my part I'd like it all in one place. One day I hope to use boro too and it would be neat to know who is working both... what do others think?

Boro is a harder glass like Pyrex glass. it has a higher melting point and feels stiff to work with in comparison to 104 or other glass. You can't mix the COEs. I noticed that they weren't saying that their boro is absolutely compatible with existing boro, so I am looking forward to hearing about it from you all.

Marcy, their site really covers not mixing it without testing (see below) so I hope you and anyone who works with it will post what you do and how you handle it. I know I would really appreciate it!
"We suggest using (our Devardi Boro) only with Devardi Boro until we can test it more thoroughly with other brands. Testing with other brands has been minimal so far. If you wish to combine this boro with other brands, please test it first for best results. "

Okay I have started my testing of the transparents. What I am doing is, I am making two plain spacers, two etched spacers, a pair that has the transparent color, white, encased in the same transparent color, and a pair that is white with the transparent encasing. I will take a picture of them next to the color rod, and keep track of any cracking etc. This will give a good color reference as well keep track of how well the color does when its used to encase. The plain, white with transparent casing also has white dots on top to help keep track of what's what.
The first two colors I did yesterday after work were transparent seaweed green and transparent yellow. So far, no cracking but they are still on the mandrel. So there will be eight beads for each color.
The transparent yellow is a striking color by the way, if you are losing color as you make it, (it goes clear or very light as its cooling), let it cool til the glow is gone then swish it in the flame until you see it turned an orange/red color.

audra, for me, encasing just depends on what I am doing. For round beads, I use the swipe method, for longer beads I use the wrap it in coils method (don't know the official name). There are lots of free tuts and several really good tuts for sale on encasing. I will try and remember which one I bought, it was really good and really helped me a lot.
I do a ton of encasing and really enjoy it but it did take a lot of practice. Worth it in the end though.

Sonja, so you garage in an annealing kiln as soon as you make the beads up? Just curious. I''m so glad you are digging in to this!

Yes, my beads go directly into the kiln, usually still glowing a bit (not soupy or dripping, but with a faint glow).
I have been wanting to dig into this for a while anyhow, and to be honest, I think I have almost every color they have at the moment. (not counting anything new that is coming in of course)

Well then we sure should be able to assemble a list of our favorite glass choices. I know we will find some that are challenging, but I really want to assemble a list of the ones that work easily so that everyone isn't starting from scratch. I already have a list of 27 colors by type on my site that are nice to work, and I want to add more, so I really look forward to the ones you recommend.
We also need a list of what encases on what nicely. That information is so needed!
My current list of Opaque, Semi-Opaque and Transparents that I really like is at the bottom of this page. I will continue to add to it, and I really look forward to what you and others post on glass you like.

Nice job Kristina! The transparent cranberry does go solid for me on a regular basis, it may be the higher heat I get with the dual mix flame or or maybe its the extra oxygen. Your welcome to lift my pictures once I start posting them if you like. I will most likely start an excel spreadsheet for myself with details and pictures, but you are welcome to whatever I post if it helps.
I sent you an email today on my story, its the abridged version lol otherwise it would be a book instead of a short story.
